Jake – Brisbane, Gold Coast, Mount Tamborine, Toowoomba to Sunshine Coast – from assembly to lock-up stage as well as complete interior fit-out if required.
Jake is a cabinet maker by trade, racking up 19 years in the building industry. Working many years for Laminex in Brisbane, Jake went out on his own and formed JJD Installations when Laminex centralised its operations to Melbourne. Jake teamed up with Mark who has 44 years under his belt and together the duo can erect a Backyard Pod to lock-up stage in just one week, wooing many a customer.
We first met Jake on the job site of Sharon in Mount Tamborine, a project using Backyard Pods, and he has since completed many other Backyard Pods projects for our customers from Tweed Heads to the Sunshine Coast. JJD Installations have 6-8 Backyard Pod projects in the planning/approval stages at any given time. No prior site inspection is required by JJD Installations providing the site is flat. For sloping and elevated sites, or sites with restricted access, an inspection is encouraged.
Where Jake and Mark truly add value for Backyard Pods customers is with their cabinet making. They will install full kitchen or kitchenettes – either flat packs such as IKEA or Kaboodle, or custom made, as well as bathroom vanities, laundry cabinetry, built-in wardrobes, storage units, and even decking.
JJD Installations are not licensed builders, but you don’t need to be with a Backyard Pod as it’s a fully engineered and certified flat pack. For any Backyard Pod over 20sqm or used as a habitable dwelling in Queensland, the homeowner needs to get an Owner Building permit in order to engage Jake and Mark to undertake work. This sounds complicated but it’s quite easy really.
