Gorgeous ‘garden studio’ 3m x 6m nestled poolside in village of Blue Mountains NSW

A creative Blue Mountains resident dreamed of a low-cost flat pack garden studio room that would fit nicely with the vintage Blue Mountains feel.This charming poolside cabana started with a Basic Backyard Pod Kit 3m x 6m in Colorbond® ‘Monument’ with foundation piers. The roof is standard skillion profile in standard Zincalume®. Part of a low stone retaining wall was demolished for the pod to be constructed. The stones were recycled as a decorative surround for the foundation piers, making it look as if the pod has been mounted on stone foundations. The timber-framed French doors and bi-fold doors add to the vintage look that fits so well with the primary residence and the Blue Mountains village atmosphere.

Underfloor insulation of the flat-pack garden studio was added beneath the standard yellow-tongue flooring (the white batts in the images below), due to the chilly Blue Mountains winters. As the project went to lock-up only as ‘stage 1’ (doors/windows installed but no interior lining or floor covering), the standard sarking (thermal barrier lining) supplied with the pod kit is still visible on the inside.
